Kedar-Badri Yatra suspended once again

Kedar-Badri Yatra suspended once again

Anyo Route, Travel News, 19/10/2021: Kedar-Badri visit postponed once again.  But this time, it's not because of the Covid situation, it's because of the deteriorating weather conditions.

It has been raining heavily in the hills of Uttarakhand for some time now.  Landslides have hit the mountains in different places.  The raging rivers seem to have begun to blow.  Therefore, the Kedar-Badri tour has been postponed for the time being due to education from the past, according to Uttarakhand government sources.

The situation in Uttarakhand is so critical due to the deteriorating weather that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the district governors of Pauri and Rudraprayag districts to send every news of the monsoon to the chief minister's office in an emergency.  The Chief Minister's Office is keeping a close watch on the whole situation.

A total of 3 people have been killed and 2 seriously injured due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand so far.  Although a total of 6,000 pilgrims left for Kedarnath last Sunday, only 2,000 managed to reach Kedarnath.  The remaining 4,000 pilgrims have been evacuated.

Pilgrims who left for Badrinath are now forbidden to go there.  They have been told to stay at Yoshimath or Pandukeswar for at least a couple of days.  Kedarnath was crowded with 20,000 pilgrims last Saturday, the highest record of the season.  On Sunday, 15,000 pilgrims returned to Gaurikund.

The meteorological department had issued red alerts in various parts of Uttarakhand last Sunday.  The warning was also issued for Monday and Tuesday.  Heavy rains are still going on across Uttarakhand.  Red alert has been issued in Dehradun, Bageshwar, Uttar Kashi, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Almora, Nainital, Champabat, Tehri and Pauri Garowal districts.
